Interoperability in the Construction Industry SmartMarket Report – Research & Analytics – McGraw-Hill Construction

Posted by bentleybim on November 16, 2007

McGraw-Hill recently released their report on how much BIM is being used in the marketplace.

Interoperability in the Construction Industry SmartMarket Report is a 36-page printed report (available as hard copy or PDF) that reviews the results of research conducted by McGraw-Hill Construction Analytics during late-Spring 2007.

The goal of the study, which was sponsored by nine industry associations including AIA, ICC, AGC, CURT, COAA, CMAA, CSI, SMPS, and buildingSMART Alliance, was to assess the interoperability of software applications and platforms serving the building community based on responses from a representative sample of 295 architects, engineers, contractors and owners.

The study aimed to:

  • Evaluate usage of building information model software; and
  • Quantify the costs and issues associated with the ability of construction project software to effectively share data or “interoperate” among applications.
  • Determine usage of automated code compliance checking
